Forestry to Shuttle to Peru

Forestry  , sire of 2012 Eclipse Award finalist Shackleford   in the male sprint category, will shuttle to Claudio Pizarro's Haras El Catorce in Peru for the Southern Hemisphere breeding season. He stands at the Taylor family's Taylor Made Stallions near Nicholasville, Ky.

His 2013 fee at Taylor Made is $8,000.

"We felt it was a good farm for him to stand at," said Ben Taylor, vice president of stallions.

Forestry, a 17-year-old son of Storm Cat out of the grade I-winning Pleasant Colony mare Shared Interest, has sired 44 stakes winners and the earners of more than $39.3 million, of which more than $4.5 million came in 2012.

Shackleford, winner of the 2011 Preakness Stakes (gr. I), won four grade I or grade II stakes in 2012 including the Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I) and the Clark Handicap (gr. I).

Other notable Forestry stakes winners include grade I winners Discreet Cat  , Diplomat Lady, and Forest Danger.

Forestry won seven of 11 starts in his lone year of racing at 3. His biggest triumph came in the 1999 King´s Bishop Stakes (gr. I). He also captured the Dwyer Stakes (gr. II) and San Pedro Stakes.
