Jesse Campbell celebrates 5 wins.
Jockey Jesse Campbell enjoyed a memorable day at Woodbine Oct. 19, riding five winners on the nine-race card.
After taking the early double with the front-running Bestavailable ($4) and Binks Forest ($12.80), the 35-year-old Campbell completed a hat trick with an out of the clouds rally from Androeah ($12.20) in the fourth race.
Campbell returned to on-the-engine tactics in the seventh race, guiding Niigon's Player ($4.20) gate to wire. The Twinsburg, Ohio, native completed his quintet of triumphs with an off-the-pace rush from Jomelo ($9.80) to win the eighth race (VIDEO)
In his other mounts on Friday's card Campbell notched a pair of second-place finishes with Variable Rate (Race 5) and Wicket Ewok (Race 6), to go along with a seventh-place run aboard A. C. Acqualina (Race 3). In the ninth and final race on the card, he finished fifth with Uncatchable Fire.
Campbell boasts a pair of grade III wins at Woodbine this year with Essence Hit Man in the Vigil and Bold Venture stakes. He ranks sixth in the current rider standings at the Ontario track with 70 victories.
He moved his tack to Woodbine in 2011 and tied for 10th in the jockey standings in his first season with 60 wins.
Campbell won his first career race at Arlington Park on July 20, 1995, on a horse (Apostle Island) trained by his father, Michael Campbell, and bred by his grandfather.
He has five mounts on Saturday's card, including the call on 20-1 shot Drenched in the $250,000 Cup & Saucer Stakes.
