Paul Szeflinski has been named director of gaming technical maintenance at Oaklawn Park, succeeding Bruce Jones, who was recently promoted to assistant director of gaming.

Szeflinski was a terminal technician for AmTote at Oaklawn in 1988 and returned in a supervisory role for the 1995 through 1997 live meets before moving to Hot Springs, Ark., permanently in 1998. During his 25-year tenure with the totalizator company, Szeflinski has worked at more than 40 tracks in the U.S. and Canada and at an off-track betting facility in Peru.

"I have had the opportunity to observe a lot of different operations and Oaklawn has always stood out as a leader in the industry," Szeflinski said in a statement. "I'm really excited to join a team with such a strong reputation."

Szeflinski will be instrumental in implementing new games and maintain the more than 900 gaming terminals from several different manufacturers in use at Oaklawn Park.

Oaklawn Park conceived and was the first U.S. track to offer Instant Racing, a form of electronic gaming that resembles slot machines with the outcome of the game based on previously run horse races.
