Online Halter Auction to Benefit Hurst Fund

An online auction of horse halters, including those from 14 of 17 living Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winners, to benefit the Jim Hurst Memorial Fund begins on eBay at 6 p.m. Sept. 21 and concludes Sept. 30.

Hurst was sales director at The Blood-Horse when he died unexpectedly in August of 2011 at age 52. The Jim Hurst Memorial Fund assists with the college expenses for his daughters, Maddie and Mollie.

The online auction, dubbed "HalterPalooza!," also includes halters from Horse of the Year Zenyatta and leading sire Storm Cat.

To see the complete list of halters and to make a bid, go to http://www.eBay.com, using the keywords "horse halters."

In addition to the halter auction, the inaugural Jim Hurst Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Sept. 28 at Connemara Golf Tournament in Nicholasville, Ky.
