First Defence's First Winner Scores by 12

First Defence  ’s initial winner, 2-year-old Dundonnell, romped by 12 lengths at Lingfield in England Aug. 4. Making his second start as a homebred for Khalid Abdullah, the colt captured the race at about 7 1/2 furlongs under 129 pounds.

Bred in Kentucky by Juddmonte Farms, Dundonnell is out of the Danzig mare Family, whose stakes-winning full siblings include European champion and international leading sire Danehill.

First Defence (Unbridled's SongHonest Lady, by Seattle Slew) was a leading sprinter of 2008, winning the Forego Handicap (gr. I) and the Jaipur Stakes (gr. III) and finishing second in the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (gr. II). He stands at Juddmonte near Lexington. His 2012 fee was $7,500.
