Creative Cause  , winner of the San Felipe (gr. II) and runner-up in the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I), worked five furlongs in 1:00 1/5 April 24 at Betfair Hollywood Park.

The son of Giant's Causeway   had his second work at Hollywood since his narrow defeat in the April 7 Santa Anita Derby and will have one final move before the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), which will likely come at Churchill Downs on Tuesday, May 1, if it does not rain. Creative Cause is expected to ship to Kentucky on Saturday, April 28.

His Tuesday morning work, which was recorded without blinkers, was the fifth best of 35 at the distance. According to Hollywood Park clockers, he posted fractions of :12, :23 4/5, :35 3/5, and :48 1/5 before galloping out six furlongs in 1:14.

Owned by Heinz Steinmann, Creative Cause will enter the Derby with a record of 4-2-2 from eight starts and earnings of $869,000. The gray/roan colt won the grade I Norfolk Stakes at Santa Anita as a juvenile and was third, beaten only a length, in his only start at Churchill in last year’s Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I).

Regular rider Joel Rosario will have the mount on Creative Cause in the Derby.
