TOBA to Hold Pedigree and Conformation Clinic

The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association will hold a Thoroughbred ownership seminar Thursday, March 22, at Gulfstream Park and a pedigree and conformation clinic Sunday, March 25, at Palm Meadows Training Center in Boynton Beach, Fla.

The Thoroughbred ownership seminar, sponsored by Blood-Horse Publications, will feature discussions on industry business issues, options for acquiring horses including partnerships, auctions, and claiming as well as a discussion about veterinary topics. Speakers include trainer Dale Romans and WinStar Farm president Elliott Walden, Syl Kiger, Armando Hernandez, Amanda Simmons, Jim Culver, Jamie Hill, Terri Pompay, Stacie Clark, and Dr. Michael Chovanes. The seminar will begin at 8 a.m. and will include breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon of racing. The registration fee for the ownership seminar is $75 for TOBA members and $100 for non-members and includes all support materials, admission to the track, and meals.

The pedigree and conformation clinic also will begin at 8 a.m. Clinic topics include pedigree theory: a practical approach to planning a mating and conformation from a veterinary perspective. A live conformation workshop is also scheduled. Speakers include Nick Zito, Byron Rogers, Dr. Debbie Spike Pierce, Barry Berklehammer, Robert Hammond, Niall Brennan, and Pete Bradley. The registration fee for the clinic is $125 for TOBA members and $175 for non-members and includes all support materials, breakfast, and lunch.
