'Master' Wheels Right Back in Al Fahidi Fort

Master of Hounds will wheel right back off seven days’ rest when he faces 12 rivals in the $250,000 Al Fahidi Fort Sponsored by Al Tayer Motors (UAE-IIT) Feb. 16. The eight-furlong turf contest is the highlight of the ninth night of racing in the Dubai World Cup Carnival.
The Mike de Kock trainee, third in the Al Maktoum Challenge-Round 2 Sponsored by Dubal (UAE-II) Feb. 9, will be making his third start of the Carnival. The 4-year-old son of Kingmambo also finished second in the Al Maktoum Challenge-Round 1 Sponsored by Etisalat (UAE-III) Jan. 12. Christophe Soumillon will once again be in the irons.
Master of Hounds will race as part of an entry with Viscount Nelson. The son of Giant's Causeway , who like his stablemate was formerly trained by Aidan O’Brien, enters the Al Fahidi Fort off a second-place finish in a nine-furlong turf handicap Jan. 20. Kevin Shea will ride.
Godolphin sends out a three-horse entry led by the multiple group I-winning Rio de La Plata. Now seven, the son of Rahy has won at distances from seven to 10 furlongs. The chestnut horse will be making his first start since losing a head decision in the Premio Roma GBI Racing (Ity-I) last November. Regular rider Frankie Dettori has the mount.
Time Prisoner and Do It All are the other two runners for Godolphin. Time Prisoner, a 5-year-old horse by Elusive Quality , captured the Prix De Ris-Orangis (Fr-III) when trained by Andre Fabre. Since being turned over to Saeed bin Suroor, Time Prisoner has made two starts at Meydan, winning his debut and finishing third in his most recent start Jan. 26.
Do It All was formerly trained by Eoin Harty in California. The son of Distorted Humor has yet to win a stakes, but did finish a good third in the 2011 San Fernando Stakes (gr. II).
Derbaas heads a four-strong entry that will run for Sheikh Hamdan. The son of Seeking the Gold also bounces back off a week’s rest. Winner of the 2011 Al Fahidi Fort, the bay horse finished fourth to Sandagiyr in the Firebreak Stakes Sponsored by Dubal (UAE-III). Tadhg O’Shea takes the mount.
Trainer Marco Botti sends out Marcret. The 5-year-old horse by Martino Alonso most recently finished third in the Al Rashidiya Sponsored by Dubai Duty Free (UAE-IIT) in his Meydan debut. Ryan Moore will ride.
