Royal Delta, last year’s champion 3-year-old filly and winner of the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (gr. I), worked six furlongs in 1:16.30 Feb. 9 at Payson Park. The daughter of Empire Maker was the lone worker at the trip.
Following last year’s Breeders’ Cup, Benjamin Leon Jr.’s Besilu Stables purchased Royal Delta for $8.5 million out of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale. She remains with Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott.
Out of the A.P. Indy mare Delta Princess, Royal Delta has won five of eight starts and has earned $1,694,600. She is being pointed toward a start in the $10 million Dubai World Cup (UAE-I) on March 31 at Meydan. In her previous work she went four furlongs Feb. 2 at Payson Park in :48 1/5.
At Palm Meadows training center, Godolphin Racing’s Consortium worked a half-mile in :50.90 the morning of Feb 9. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin sent out the colt for the move that was the 36th fastest of 43 workers on a busy morning at the South Florida facility.
It was Consortium’s first public move since finishing sixth Jan. 29 in the Holy Bull Stakes (gr. III). Darley’s homebred son of Bernardini —Marietta, by Machiavellian finished behind Algorithms (another son of Bernardini) and 2011 2-year-old champion Hansen in the Holy Bull.

Capt. Candyman Can worked five furlongs in 1:02.72, the seventh fastest of 15 at the distance. The grade I-winning sprinter, owned by Rosemary Rauch and David Zell was fourth Dec. 31 in Gulfstream Park’s six-furlong Mr. Prospector Stakes (gr. III). The 6-year-old son of Candy Ride —Stormy Way, by Storm Creek has a 8-2-2 mark from 17 starts and has earned $765,147 while being trained by Ian Wilkes.
The 4-year-old filly Dancinginherdreams was the lone worker at six furlongs. She ran in 1:14.21 breezing from the gate. John Oxley’s 4-year-old daughter of Tapit —Mayan Milagra, by Menifee, has not raced since finishing second in the Dream Supreme Stakes Nov. 5 at Churchill Downs. Trained by John Ward Jr., Dancinginherdreams won the 2010 Pocahontas Stakes (gr. II) and ran second in two grade II stakes at Gulfstream last winter: the Forward Gal and Davona Dale Stakes.
