Prominent owner-breeder Frank Stronach went to $1,650,000 to purchase Camargue, an unraced Mineshaft   mare in foal to Street Sense  , during the Nov. 8 session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

Consigned as part of the complete dispersal of the late Prince Saud bin Khaled's Palides Investments and consigned by Khaled’s Chanteclair Farm, Camargue was the second horse to bring a final bid in excess of seven figures during the early portion of the sale’s second session.

Bred by Palides, Camargue was produced from the group II winner Lyphard’s Delta, the daughter of Lyphard whose progeny provided Palides with some of its international success in recent years.

Included among Lyphard’s Delta’s offspring are multiple grade III winner Delta Princess, whose daughter Royal Delta won the Nov. 4 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (gr. I). Both Delta Princess and Royal Delta were scheduled to be sold later during the Nov. 8 Keeneland sale session.

Also produced from Lyphard’s Delta are Italian group I winner Biondetti and Garden City Breeders’ Cup Handicap (gr. I) winner Indy Five Hundred.
