Girolamo , Godolphin’s grade I-winning son of A.P. Indy, will stand at Sequel Stallions in New York for the 2012 breeding season, Darley announced Nov. 2.
Girolamo’s five lifetime wins, from six furlongs to a mile, include victories in last year's Vosburgh Stakes (gr. I) and the Jerome Handicap (gr. II) as a 3-year-old in 2009, both at Belmont Park. His last start came in a third-place finish in the Cigar Mile Handicap (gr. I) at Aqueduct in November 2010, in which he was defeated by a half-length.
The only son or daughter of champion sire A.P. Indy ever to win a grade I at six furlongs, Girolamo is a full brother to the dam of Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner Super Saver . He is out of the Mr. Prospector mare Get Lucky.
Charlie Boden, Darley America’s Head of Sales commented: “Girolamo is a horse with tremendous potential on all fronts. He was a dominant racehorse with speed and class and is a grade 1 winner from a tremendous Phipps family. Once you get to take a look at him physically you’ll understand why we’re thrilled about his future. We are extremely excited that Sequel Stallions will be standing him for us in New York in 2012.”
Girolamo’s fee will be set at a later date. He will be available for inspection at Jonabell during the forthcoming breeding stock sales.
