Zayat Stables’ Prayer for Relief did not get on the plane from California the morning of Nov. 1 after spiking a fever and will miss the Nov. 5 Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I). The son of Jump Start  -Sparklin Lil, by Mr. Sparkles, drew the inside post position and was installed at 30-1 odds on the morning line.

Trainer Bob Baffert said the colt, whose four-race win streak ended when he finished third in the Oct. 16 Oklahoma Derby, had a temperature of 103 degrees and was not among his horses shipping to Kentucky.

Bred in Kentucky by G. R. Aschinger, Prayer For Relief broke his maiden while racing for a $50,000 tag in his third career start. The colt began his 2011 campaign by winning four straight, including the Iowa Derby (gr. III), West Virginia Derby (gr. II), and Super Derby (gr. II).

With five wins and three placings from nine starts, Prayer For Relief has earned $1,009,500.
