Lightning Strike Closes Trackside Louisville

Simulcast wagering at Trackside Louisville has been canceled for May 2 due to a weather-related power outage, according to officials at Churchill Downs, where live racing resumes May 6.

A lightning strike during an overnight thunderstorm left the off-track betting facility at 4520 Poplar Level Road completely without power. Service cannot be restored in time to conduct the simulcast wagering schedule, track officials reported.

Simulcasting is to resume at Trackside Louisville along with live racing at Churchill Downs following the post-Kentucky Derby break on May 6. Churchill's spring meet is to run until July 4.

When racing resumes, there will be large carryovers in the Pick 6 and Super Hi-5 wagers. The Pick 6 carryover is $947,641.  The Super Hi-5, which is offered in the day’s final race and requires fans to select the first five finishers in that race in the correct order, will resume with a carryover of $147,055.
