Awesome Act, winner of the Gotham Stakes (gr. III) and third in the Wood Memorial (gr. I) after tossing a shoe, and San Rafael Stakes (gr. III) and Southwest Stakes (gr. III) winner Conveyance put in their final works for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) Tuesday morning. The track at Churchill Downs was listed as “muddy.”
Awesome Act, with jockey Julien Leparoux up, worked a half-mile in :48 1/5 working in company with Peace Town. He began 2 1/2 lengths back and finished a neck in front. His splits were :13, :24 4/5, and :36 3/5. Read the full story.
He was clocked five furlongs in 1:00 4/5 and galloped out six furlongs in 1:15 2/5.
Awesome Act, a son of Awesome Again —Houdini’s Honey, by Mr. Prospector, is trained by Jeremy Noseda. He is owned by Susan Roy and Vinery Stables.
