Freud  , a former leading sire in New York, will shuttle for the first time. He will stand the Southern Hemisphere breeding season at Alberto and Renata Stein’s La Leyenda in Argentina, joining other United States stallions Exchange Rate   and Offlee Wild   at La Leyenda for the Southern Hemisphere season. Freud currently stands at Keane Stud near Amenia, N.Y., as the property of Sequel Stallions New York for a fee of $6,500.

“La Leyenda has purchased mares and entered into long-term foal-sharing arrangements with a number of mares owned by prominent North Americans interested in Argentine racing,” said Dan Rosenberg, La Leyenda’s North American representative.

La Leyenda is a stallion and breeding center founded two years ago in the Las Pampas area of Argentina.  The 622-acre facility is able to house up to six stallions and 70 mares.

Twelve-year-old Freud, a full brother to 2009 and current 2010 North American leading sire Giant's Causeway  , ranks third on New York’s leading sires list this year. He topped the list in 2008.

Freud (Storm Cat--Mariah’s Storm, by Rahy) has sired 17 stakes winners and the earners of $11.8 million.
