Blood-Horse Publications is pleased to announce the appointment of Charles H. Payne as associate publisher of The Horse: Your Guide to Equine Health Care.
In his new role Payne will be responsible for managing all sales and marketing functions of the equine-health media group, including the monthly magazine and a wide array of digital products.
Payne has a 24-year career in magazine advertising and marketing. His equine publishing experience began at Practical Horseman in 1991. He was the horse health category manager for what became the Source Interlink Equine Network until 2000 and was the associate publisher of Practical Horseman from 2003 to 2006. Beginning in 2006, he handled ad sales to equine healthcare companies for the Horse Media Group.
"I’ve admired The Horse magazine since its inception, and when I owned my horses, I viewed it as required reading,” Payne observed. “I’m really looking forward to helping communicate to the marketplace all that The Horse has to offer.”
In his new position Payne will work with account executives Yvonne Long and Leigh Walkup to develop innovative marketing solutions for firms serving the equine-health marketspace. The team is backed by the extensive creative and technical services of Blood-Horse Publications, parent company of The Horse group. Payne will report directly to Stacy V. Bearse, president & CEO.
"I’m delighted to finally have this opportunity to team up with Charlie,” Bearse commented. “Our paths have crossed frequently over the past 20 years, as we both consulted with companies in the equine-health field. Working with Yvonne and Leigh, and Editor-in-Chief Stephanie Church, Charlie will help clients integrate the optimum blend of digital and print marketing tools required to succeed in these changing times.”
