A handsome Mr. Greeley colt was the early standout during Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. March select sale of 2-year-olds in training. Cataloged as Hip No. 10, he brought $260,000 March 16 in Central Florida.

Suzanne Smallwood, vice president of Equix in Lexington, signed the sale ticket for the chestnut juvenile. She said she was acting on behalf of a racing partnership.

Consigned by Harris Training Center, agent, the colt is the second foal out of the 10-year-old winning Silver Deputy mare Air Marshall, who finished third in the Queen Stakes at Turfway Park. Other family members include grade I winner First Samurai   and grade III winner Sky Blue Pink, the colt's second dam.

“He’s a nice horse,” Smallwood said. “Obviously, we do all our analysis on the stride, and he sort of jumped through all those hoops for us. With his measurements and his cardio, everything just fit. It’s really hard for a horse to tick off all the boxes, and he ticked off all the boxes. The price was what we expected him to bring, unfortunately. I got excited at $190,000 for a little bit, but that ($260,000) was about what we valued him at.”

The colt worked a quarter mile in :21 3/5.

Harris Training Center purchased him for $45,000 from Glennwood Farm, agent, at the 2009 Keeneland September yearling sale.
