Bob Black Jack, sidelined since winning the Malibu Stakes (gr. I) in December 2008, worked six furlongs Feb. 14 in 1:11.40 as he prepares for the $150,000 San Carlos Handicap (gr. II) at seven furlongs Feb. 20 at Santa Anita.

Regular rider David Flores was aboard the California-bred 5-year-old son of Stormy Jack--Molly's Prospector (by Native Prospector) for the drill, which took place at Hollywood Park.

“We plan on running as long as the horse comes out of the work good and has a good week,” trainer Jim Kasparoff said.

Out of action since coming up lame while preparing for the 2009 Sunshine Millions Sprint, Bob Black Jack owns a 4-2-1 record from 10 starts with earnings of $594,925 for owners Jeff Harmon and Tim Kasparoff.

Bob Black Jack, who established a then-world record of 1:06.53 for six furlongs in winning the 2008 Sunshine Millions Dash at Santa Anita, could meet 2009 Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Sprint (gr. I) winner Dancing in Silks in the San Carlos.

The California-bred Dancing in Silks won the BC Sprint by a nose at 25-1. He finished third as the 9-10 favorite in the Palos Verdes Handicap (gr. II) in his 2010 debut on Jan. 23 while carrying 123 pounds and breaking from the rail for trainer Carla Gaines.
