Maryland Jockey Club officials have canceled live racing for Feb. 12 at Laurel Park because of a record-setting amount of snow. Inclement weather already had forced the cancellation of four consecutive live cards: Feb. 5, 6, 10, and 11.

In addition, MJC officials have moved the $150,000 Barbara Fritchie Handicap (gr. II) and the $75,000 John B. Campbell Handicap, orginally scheduled for Feb. 13, to Feb. 15. The Feb. 15 card also will feature the $150,000 General George Handicap (gr. II) and $75,000 Marshua Stakes.

“We are looking to card quality races but horses have not been able to train since last Friday morning (Feb. 5),” said Maryland Jockey Club racing secretary Georganne Hale. “The New York trainers have told us they would have trouble shipping down as well. We are trying to make the best out of a bad situation by carding the General George, Fritchie, Campbell, and Marshua on the same day.”

Hale has moved the nine-race program Feb. 12 to Feb. 13. Entries were taken for the Feb. 12 program on Feb. 9.
