Prominent jockeys Mike Luzzi and Rajiv Maragh will join boxing trainer and ESPN2 Friday Night Fights analyst Teddy Atlas in attending the annual Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation Dinner.
The Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation is a New York-based community service organization that provides financial, legal and emotional support to individuals and organizations in need, and focuses particularly on the needs of children. It was founded in 1997 by boxing trainer and commentator, Teddy Atlas, in order to honor the memory of his father.
This year’s benefit is set for Nov. 19 at the Hilton Garden Inn on Staten Island in New York. Among the three headliners from the sports world on hand to support the cause are New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs, former Knicks guard John Starks, and Colorado Rockies right handed hurler and New York product Jason Marquis.
Actor Danny Aiello will be joined by Sopranos cast members Tony Sirico and Joe Gannascoli, and The Good Wife, Sex and The City and Law & Order star Chris Noth, at this year’s benefit, along with members of both the Jets and Giants. Comic Jeff Pirrami returns as host of the festivities, which will include a memorabilia auction and the presentation of the annual “Teddy” Awards.
