North Light  , who won the Vodafone Epsom Derby (Eng-I) in 2004, notched his first winner as a sire July 12 when North Ballade won in Russia.

According to The Racing Post's Web site, the filly won the Kuban Stakes, a group III event, in her third start.

Out of the Devil’s Bag mare Betty B, the filly was bred in Florida by Adena Springs. The stallion stands at Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs near Paris, Ky.

Consigned by Adena Springs with Hidden Brook as agent, the filly was purchased at the 2008 Keeneland September sale by Black Stone Farm for $10,000.

Irish-bred North Light   won three of seven starts. In addition to winning the Epsom Derby, he ran second in the Budweiser Irish Derby (Ire-I).

The son of Danehill--Sought Out, by Rainbow Quest, stood this year for $15,000.
