Lexington to be Covered on ESPN2

(Edited press release)

Live coverage of the $300,000 Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. II), a 1 1/16-mile test for 3-year-olds at Keeneland, is the main attraction on this week’s fourth and final installment of “NTRA Racing to the Kentucky Derby.”

The Lexington, which will be televised April 18 from 5 to 6 p.m. on ESPN2, is the final major Derby prep race leading up to the Run for the Roses, and the purse could help stamp a Derby ticket for the race winner should his owners decide to continue down that path.

In 1999, Charismatic parlayed a Lexington triumph into victories in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes (both gr. I).

Hosting the telecast at Keeneland will be Joe Tessitore, joined by analysts Jerry Bailey and Randy Moss, reporters Jeannine Edwards and Jay Privman, and handicapper Hank Goldberg.

The Coolmore Lexington Stakes is featured on this week's That Handicapping Show.
