Lane’s End Farm has reduced the 2009 fees for a number of its stallions, including major sire A.P. Indy, whose fee will go to $250,000 from $300,000. Another of its stallions, Kingmambo, will remain at the previously announced fee of $250,000.

“After reviewing the recent yearling and mixed sales results, as well as the current economic environment, I am announcing a further reduction in many of our 2009 stud fees for the Lane’s End stallions and we will be offering ‘stands and nurses’ on all stallions,” said farm owner William S. Farish. “Lane’s End has always carefully monitored the size of our stallions’ books, and in an effort to increase market value for our clients, we will remain sensitive to this issue.”

Lane’s End, located near Versailles, Ky., recently announced Horse of the Year Curlin will stand at the farm in 2009 for a fee of $75,000. That fee has not changed. Curlin's sire, Smart Strike, who stands at Lane's End, had his fee adjusted to $125,000 from $150,000.
