Three New BHP Officers Elected
Marla Bickel, Janet Landry, and Ellen Kiser were elected as officers of Blood-Horse Publications by the company’s board of trustees at their annual summer meeting last week in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Bickel was named vice president of operations, Landry was named treasurer, and Kiser was named treasurer of The Blood-Horse Charitable Foundation.
In other business, G. Watts Humphrey was re-elected to the office of trustee and vice chairman of Blood-Horse Publications.

Bearse, president and CEO of Blood-Horse Publications. “Marla, Janet, and Ellen understand the evolving needs of our audience and advertisers and always go the extra mile to provide outstanding service.”
Bickel is a graduate of Thomas More College, where she was magna cum laude and received her bachelor of business administration degree. She worked for The National Underwriter Company/Highline Media for 20 years in various capacities, including publisher, sales director, executive director, and advertising business manager.
Prior to that, she worked in the marketing department at Proctor & Gamble Company. Bickel joined Blood-Horse Publications in May 2006 as director of circulation.
Landry currently serves as business director for Blood-Horse Publications. She graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a Bachelor of Science degree and received her MBA from the University of Kentucky. She received her CPA license in 2000.
In addition to her experience at Blood-Horse Publications, Landry worked for Ferguson Enterprises for 11 years as a branch controller. She has also run her own accounting practice and has worked for Host Communications and Barr, Anderson & Robert PSC.
Kiser joined Blood-Horse Publications in 1987 and is currently executive assistant to Bearse. Prior to joining Blood-Horse Publications she worked for National Mines Corp., Independence Coal Co., Host Communications, Stinnes Coal Co., and Island Creek Coal.
Kiser attended Fugazzi Business College and Lexington Community College and is a volunteer at Southland Christian Church where she participates in the Helping Through HIM Program. Kiser also volunteers in the community at the University of Kentucky’s Office of International Affairs International Hospitality Program. She currently serves on the board of the International Hospitality Program and has hosted 20 students over the past six years.
