The American Graded Stakes Committee has reviewed the off-the-turf running of the Transylvania Stakes April 4 at Keeneland and has ruled the race will retain its grade III status.

It is the policy of the AGSC that a race scheduled for the turf but moved to the dirt (or a synthetic surface) after the closing of nominations because the turf course is unsuitable for racing is automatically downgraded one grade level for that running only.  The committee, however, promptly reviews the running of any race that is automatically downgraded and may reinstate its former grade.

The Transylvania, the committee said, was conducted as an “ungraded” race on Keeneland’s Polytrack surface but will be reinstated as a grade III event for this year. The top three finishers—Boss Lafitte, Riley Tucker, and Budge Man—are credited with grade III placings.
