The Irish stallion chalked up stakes winner No. 171 on May 20, when his son Sligo Bay captured the Cinema Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Hollywood Park. It was the third stakes win in a four-day period for Sadler's Wells' offspring. On May 17, his son Musha Merr won a stakes at York in England, and the following afternoon a daughter, Adonesque, emerged victorious in a stakes at Cork in Ireland. It was the first stakes win for each runner. Deceased Mr. Prospector reached 175 stakes winners earlier this year. Twenty-year-old Sadler's Wells (Northern Dancer--Fairy Bridge, by Bold Reason) stands at Coolmore Stud in Ireland.Central Kentucky stallion Cozzene hit the 50 mark by number of stakes winners when his son Mizzen Mast won the May 17 Prix de Guiche (Fr-III). Cozzene's earlier stakes winners this year include grade II winner Real Cozzy and grade III turf victress Gaviola, who was a 2000 Eclipse Award finalist. Twenty-one-year-old Cozzene (Caro--Ride the Trails, by Prince John) stands at Graham J. Beck's Gainesway Farm near Lexington.
