The New York Breeders' Sales Company has cataloged 374 mares and weanlings for its annual Fall Mixed Sale, which will be held Oct. 14 at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, NY.
In 2006, a select weanling session was added to the sale and select New York-bred weanlings will once again be featured at this year's sale.
Eighty-six select weanlings have been cataloged (hips 1-86), including foals by leading New York sire Freud , leading New York freshman sire Hook and Ladder, nationally prominent stallions Grand Slam, Gulch, Holy Bull, Johannesburg, Langfuhr , Officer, Touch Gold , Yonaguska, as well as weanlings by freshman sires Purge, Grand Reward, Consolidator, Eurosilver, and Pollard's Vision.
"We were very encouraged by the success of the first New York-bred select weanling sale last year and I think if you look at the sire power this year, it's just incredible," said Chester Broman, president of the New York sales company. "New York-breds have always been a smart investment, even before purses for New York-breds reached record levels in 2007.
"With the franchise issue now all but settled and VLT's on the way to the New York metropolitan area, the future has never looked brighter in the Empire State.”
