Street Sense, winner of the July 29 Jim Dandy (gr. I) and the May 5 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), worked a half-mile in :49 flat at Saratoga Race Course Aug. 8.

The Carl Nafzger trainee went to the track around 6:45 a.m. with the third set of horses sent out that morning. He went his first quarter in :25 2/5 and galloped out in 1:01.25 over the sloppy surface with regular rider Calvin Borel in the saddle, staying four wide from the rail because of cones set out to preserve the surface for afternoon racing.

"We weren't sure what the weather is going to be like tomorrow, so better to send him out now," said assistant Ian Wilkes. "It was just a good little maintainance work; he stretched his legs and galloped out strong and did everything he was supposed to do."

A son of Street Cry, Street Sense is expected to make his next start in the Aug. 25 Travers Stakes (gr. I)  at Saratoga.
