Seven fillies are entered to run in the $400,000 Princess Rooney Handicap (gr. III), the feature race of Saturday's $1-million Summit of Speed program at Calder Race Course. The 4-year-old daughter of Slew the Surgeon is the 120 pound highweight in the six furlong sprint and will be ridden by Kent Desormeaux. In other Summit of Speed races, Hal's Hope returns to the races in the $200,000 Carry Back Stakes, a six furlong race for 3-year-olds. The Florida Derby (gr. I) winner is unraced since finishing last of eight in the Preakness Stakes (gr. I) and is in a tough spot as the 122 pound co-highweight. The Harold Rose trainee won a 6 1/2-furlong maiden race at Calder in November before being stretched out to races at distances of one mile or longer. Crack sprinter Caller One also carries 122 pounds and will likely be the betting favorite.Betty and Ralph Sessa's 7-year-old gelding Heckofaralph is entered in two races on Calder's Saturday card, the $50,000 Rocket Man Stakes, a 4 1/2-furlong main track dash for 2-year-olds and up, and also in the $100,000 Calder Turf Sprint Handicap three races later. The latter is a five furlong turf race which Heckofaralph won in 1999 while setting a course record of 54.96.
