Silver Charades Wins All Along With Late Burst

With a devastating late move, Silver Charades upset the $200,000 All Along Stakes (gr. IIIT) (VIDEO) for fillies and mares going nine furlongs  over the turf Saturday at Colonial Downs.

Jockey Jose Valdivia Jr. patiently kept Silver Charades back as Dancingupastorm set tempting fractions of 24.74, 49.55, 1:12.77 and 1:37.63 and gradually increased her margin.  But as the front-runner weakened at the top of the stretch, Humoristic and Ballet Pacifica briefly exchanged the lead before Silver Charades, rallying on the extreme outside, closed impressively to win by 1 1/2 lengths.

The Live Oak Plantation homebred Silver Charades is by Broad Brush out of Don’t Read My Lips, by Turkoman.

The 5-year old paid $16.40, $8.80, and $5.80 to win.

The 25-1 Humoristic held for place paying $26 and $10.

Bridge Game showed for $6.80.

Favored Ballet Pacifica gave way in the stretch and finished fifth.

The All Along is the second straight win trainer Martin Wolfson has delivered with Silver Charades since accepting training duties in April. She improved her record to four wins and $244,970 in earnings from 13 career starts.

Omeya finished fourth, followed by Ballet Pacifica, May Night, Cozy Gain, Dancingupastorm, Miss Belga Bound, Grigorieva, and Dancing Sky.
