Derby Museum Hosts Benefit 'Happy Hour' June 16 at Churchill Downs

The Equine Wellness Foundation will present a post-race “Happy Hour” following the June 16 Stephen Foster Handicap (gr. I) in support of the Klein Family Learning Center and The Race for Education, the Kentucky Derby Museum announced June 7.

Jockey Calvin Borel, regular rider for Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner Street Sense, University of Louisville Men’s Basketball Coach Rick Pitino, and other local celebrities will serve as bartenders during the event hosted by the Louisville museum around 6 p.m.

Expected celebrity bartenders include Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas,  former jockey and NBC sports broadcaster Donna Barton Brothers, Eclipse Award-winning former jockey Chris McCarron, and Carl Nafzger, two-time Kentucky Derby winning trainer.

The evening includes a silent auction that includes mini saddlecloths signed by Derby riders from the 133, 132, and 131st runnings of the Derby. a wine tasting for 20, halters from several famous horses, a Barbaro poster signed by Jockey Edgar Prado, a night at the Galt House, a suite for a day at the races at Keeneland, and more!
