A Johannesburg colt worked an eighth of a mile in :10 during final OBS under tack show.

A Johannesburg colt was among the standouts Sunday in Central Florida during the second and final under tack show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. (OBS) February select juvenile auction. The dark bay or brown 2-year-old worked the fastest eighth of a mile, covering the distance in :10. During the sale's first under tack show on Feb. 4, he worked an eighth in :10 3/5.

Consigned by True South, agent, the colt is out of the 11-year-old winning Star de Naskra mare Star de Mint, who is a half-sister to Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) and Santa Margarita Invitational Handicap (gr. I) winner Adoration. The colt, which has not been offered previously at auction, was bred in Florida by Dr. David Mernard and Dick Schultz.

Colts by Carson City and Trippi   turned in the fastest breezes at a quarter mile, each stopping the clock in :21 1/5. During the sale's first under tack show, the son of Carson City worked an eighth in :10 2/5 and the Trippi colt worked an eighth in :10 3/5.

Consigned by Don R. Graham, agent, the Carson City colt is out of the winning 13-year-old Kris S. mare Jenna S., who is a full sister to added-money winner Mistress S. and a half-sister to stakes winner Kodema. Jenna S. also is a full sister to Viz, the dam of two stakes winners. Straightaway Farm, agent, purchased the Carson City colt for $80,000 at last year's Keeneland September yearling sale. Steve Shapiro and Susie Vizvary bred the colt in Kentucky.

The Trippi colt is consigned by Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds, agent. He is out of the winning 13-year-old Once Wild mare Touch the Future, and his other family members include grade II winner Cagey Exuberance. Bred by Jacquelyn A. Reinhart in Florida, the colt was purchased by Sunmist Farm for $40,000 at the OBS October mixed sale. He was a $47,000 buy-back at the 2006 Keeneland September yearling auction.

The weather was cool and partly cloudy.

The OBS select juvenile auction is scheduled for Tuesday, beginning at noon (EST).
