While her half-brother, Chester House, was finishing unplaced in Sunday's Sempra Energy Hollywood Gold Cup, Juddmonte Farms' Honest Lady came from off the pace for a 3 1/2-length victory in the $200,000 A Gleam Handicap (gr. II) at Hollywood Park. Sent off as the 7-10 favorite and 121-pound high weight in the five-horse field, Honest Lady broke slowly before being settled in on the inside as Hookedonthefeelin and Theresa's Tizzy dueled for the lead, getting the first half-mile in fractions of :21.36 and :43.83. Honest Lady moved to the lead in midstretch and continued on for the final margin, stopping the timer in 1:21.47 for seven furlongs. Seth's Choice finished second, followed by Hookedonthefeelin, Theresa's Tizzy, and Evening Promise.
The victory was the third this year in five starts for the Seattle Slew filly trained by Bobby Frankel. The $120,000 winner's purse improved Honest Lady's bankroll to $650,968 as she has won half her dozen career starts.
"She really an awesome filly," said Frankel, who was winning the A Gleam for the third time. Frankel said Honest Lady will be pointed to the $250,000 Ballerina Handicap (gr. I) at Saratoga on Aug. 20. (Chart, Equibase
