Monmouth, Meadowlands to Run 280 Days in 2007

The Meadowlands and Monmouth Park, both operated by the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority, were awarded a combined 280 racing dates in 2007.

The New Jersey Racing Commission granted approval for the dates at its meeting on Nov. 15.

The Meadowlands will offer 160 Standardbred racing dates and 41 Thoroughbred programs while Monmouth Park, which will host the 2007 Breeders' Cup, will operate for 79 dates.

Harness racing will take center stage at the Meadowlands from Jan. 5 through August 4 (137 dates) and Nov. 16 through Dec. 29 (23 dates).

The Thoroughbred meet at the Meadowlands will span Sept. 3 through Nov. 10, Tuesdays through Saturdays with dark days on Sept. 4-6 and during Breeders' Cup week Oct. 23-27. Depending on football scheduling at Giants Stadium, the Meadowlands will race either Oct. 1 or 2.

Monmouth Park will present Thoroughbred racing on May 12 through Sept. 2, plus the Breeders' Cup week, Oct. 24-27. Thoroughbred racing's championship day is on Oct. 27.
