Classic sire Mull of Kintyre, who stood at Coolmore Stud in Ireland, will relocate to the outfit's North American base, Ashford Stud, near Versailles, Ky. His 2007 fee is $10,000.
Mull of Kintyre's son, Araafa, a leading European miler, captured this year's classic Boylesports Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-I) and the St. James's Palace Stakes (Eng-I). He also ran second in this year's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Eng-I).
Mull of Kintyre's other 2006 stakes winners include German group winner La Dancia.
Nine-year-old Mull of Kintyre is by Danzig and his dam, Retrospective (by Easy Goer), is out of a half-sister to prominent stallion Broad Brush. An English group II winner as a 2-year-old, Mull of Kintyre ran fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) in his first U.S. race.
"He has the pedigree, race record, and looks to make a leading stallion, and has already proven himself capable of siring a top runner," said Aisling Duignan, Ashford's director of sales. "From a commercial point of view, he also gets very good-looking horses."
Mull of Kintyre has sired the earners of $2.1 million.
