72-Hour Entry Rule, 50-Cent Pick Fours at Keeneland

(Edited Keeneland reports)
When Keeneland kicks off its fall meet Friday, Oct. 6, the Polytrack surface and renovated grandstand will not be the only new features at the Lexington, Ky., track.

Once the meet begins, Keeneland will have a 72-hour entry rule. Exceptions to the rule will be a Saturday close for Wednesday races and a Sunday close for Thursday races.

The entry schedule for Keeneland will be as follows:
Race Day--Entry Day
Wednesday--Saturday
Thursday--Sunday
Friday--Tuesday
Saturday--Wednesday
Sunday--Thursday

Keeneland will also introduce changes to its Pick Four wager, including offering a 50-cent wager. The Pick Four is a wager in which bettors select the winner in four consecutive races.

Keeneland will offer two 50-cent Pick Four wagers each race day -- on races 2-5 and on the final four races of the card. (The 50-cent Pick Four does not apply to the NTRA National Pick Four in which the minimum is $1.00.)

"The 10-cent Superfecta wager has been very popular with our patrons, many of whom are novice race fans," said Keeneland president Nick Nicholson. "We expect the 50-cent Pick Four will have that same broad appeal."

Keeneland also will introduce a $100,000-guaranteed Pick Four, presented by TVG Network, on opening Friday, Oct. 6. The guaranteed Pick Four will be races 7-10 on the card.
