Europe's yearling sales season begins Friday in the picturesque French coastal setting of Deauville. L'Agence Francaise's August Yearling catalogue features 518 lots which are offered from Friday to Monday. The select sessions are Friday and Saturday.
Some outstanding European performers have first-crop yearlings this year and among those represented at Deauville are High Chaparral (10 lots catalogued), Hawk Wing (9), Choisir (four), Dalakhani (seven) , Nayef (four) , Dubai Destination (four), Anabaa Blue (10), Dream Well (seven), Kris Kin (one), Domedriver (four), Storming Home (three) and Oasis Dream (six), whose foals were sensationally received last year.
Standout yearlings on paper include Sortita (lot 93), a full-sister by sire of the moment Monsun to both Deutsches Derby (Ger-I) winner Samum and German Oaks (Ger-I) heroine Salve Regina and lot 55, the only Sadler's Wells colt for sale. He is a half-brother to dual classic winner Kazzia. His consignor is Eric Puerari's Haras des Capucines.
Sessions start at 2:30 p.m. local time on Friday, 5.30 p.m. Saturday, and Sunday at 2 p.m.
