A total of 136 horses bred in Louisiana are pre-entered in the six stakes races worth more than $550,000 that will make up the 2006 edition of Louisiana Premier Night to be held at Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino on Feb. 18.Stewart Madison's Happy Ticket, idle since her disappointing effort in the Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I), is expected to kick off her season in the $100,000 Distaff. A fan favorite and the toast of Louisiana racing last year, Happy Ticket gained national attention with her dominating win at Saratoga Racecourse in the Ballerina Stakes (gr. I). Trained by Andy Leggio Jr., she has been working sensationally at both Oaklawn Park and Louisiana Downs.The $150,000 Louisiana Premier Night Championship is the richest race of the evening and has drawn 26 pre-entries. The Premier Night Prince and Starlet will feature 3-year-olds colts and fillies, respectively, sprinting six furlongs while aiming for the winner's share of a $100,000 purse.Rounding out the program will be the Premier Night Sprint and Matron, each worth $60,000. The Sprint has drawn 22, including track record holder All Wired Up - a multiple stakes winner. The Matron drew 17 and is headed up by Destiny Calls.
