The Fasig-Tipton Midlantic December mixed sale opened Sunday in Maryland with a gross that exceeded last year's first session total, but the average and median prices both suffered setbacks.The 201 horses sold brought $1,759,400, which was up 18.6% from last year's figure of 1,483,800 when 149 horses were sold. The average price was $8,753, down 12.1% from $9,958 in 2004. The median dropped 28.8%, from $5,200 last year to $3,700 this year. The buy-back rate rose from 27.3% to 33.7%.Your Out, a 7-year-old multiple stakes-winning daughter of Allen's Prospect, brought the top price of $140,000 while in foal to Lion Hearted. John T. Crane Jr. purchased her from Country Life Farm, agent for Eugene Ford. Your Out was produced from the Fast Play mare Our Friend Hidayet, an added-money winner who is a half-sister to stakes winner Carrolls Favorite (by Allen's Prospect). Your Out is a half-sister to stakes-placed In the Cups (by Two Punch).Approve, a half-sister to grade II winner Best of Luck (by Broad Brush), sold for the session's second-highest price of $100,000 while in foal to Two Punch. An 11-year-old daughter of Deputy Minister, she was purchased by Green Willow Farms from Walnut Green agent. Approve is the dam of stakes-placed Xtra Heart (by Favorite Trick).The second and final session of the sale is Monday.
