Estrapade Tribute Set For April 25
Old Friends, a Thoroughbred retirement facility based at Hurstland Farm near Midway, Ky., will host a tribute to the mare Estrapade at the farm April 25 at 1 p.m. ET.Estrapade died of a heart attack April 1 at age 25 on the day she was due to be sent to Old Friends to live out her retirement. She had been donated to the organization by Michael Paulson, whose father, Allen Paulson, raced the champion grass mare of 1986.The program at Hurstland will include refreshments and video clips of Estrapade's brilliant racing career, which featured five grade I victories and earnings of nearly $2 million. Estrapade beat the boys in the Arlington Million (gr. IT) in 1986.A trolley from the Kentucky Horse Park will leave at 11:30 a.m. to take visitors to Hurstland Farm.
