Three Wonders Filly Tops First Session of OBSC Sale
A yearling filly by Three Wonders consigned by Lindie Reiss, agent, was purchased by M.S.T.S. for $90,000 to top the first consignor preferred session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s 2005 winter mixed sale. A grade III-winning son of Storm Cat, Three Wonders is represented by his first crop as yearlings of 2005. The bay filly is out of stakes placed Loudmouth Time, by Honey Jay, and is a half-sister to stakes winners O'Rocky and Tour Time. Second-highest price of $85,000 was paid by Classic Oaks Farm for a yearling filly by Yes It's True from the consignment of Nancy Bauman, agent. The dark bay or brown filly is out of Royalty on Ice (by Sovereign Dancer), a daughter of graded stakes winner Frosty Skater and half-sister to graded stakes winner Frosty the Snowman. The session's high priced broodmare was Ascloseasitgets, an 8-year-old mare by Relaunch in foal to Montbrook, consigned by Montgomery Farm, agent, and sold to Martin Stables for $82,000. Out of graded stakes winner Marianna's Girl, by Dewan, the chestnut mare is a half-sister to four stakes winners including graded winners Marastani and Christine's Outlaw. For the session, a total of 186 horses grossed $3,655,700, compared with 160 horses that brought a total of $3,127,200 at last year's opening session. The average price was $19,654, up slightly from $19,545 a year ago, while the median price was $11,500, compared with $14,000 in 2004. The buy back percentage was 31.1%; it was 27.2% last year.
