Grade II Winner Regal Sanction to Metropolitan in New York
John and Susan Moore, who raced grade II winner Regal Sanction, have donated the 6-year-old son of Regal Classic to a foundation they established to help raise money for equine charities. Retired with five wins from 24 starts and earnings of $485,158, Regal Sanction will enter stud at Michael and Debra Lischin's Metropolitan Stud near Pine Plains, N.Y."We hope he will be well-received by breeders looking for value," Michael Lischin said. "I'm also intrigued with the unusual approach the former owners, Susan and John Moore, decided to take in approaching the next step in his career, in that they have donated not just seasons. but the entire individual to stand for equine charities."Susan Moore said: "In 1999, we established a 501 (c) (3) Foundation for the care and preservation of animals, and since then, the Foundation has provided not only needed veterinary care, but also ongoing support and, in some cases, retirement funding. We have also contributed to other equine charities. This is simply an unusual extension of our normal activities."Stallion fees paid to Metropolitan, after expenses, will be paid to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, Thoroughbred Charities of America, New York Horse Rescue, or the Moore Foundation, as each breeder desires. If no preference is expressed, the Foundation will allocate among these and other equine charities. While Metropolitan will advertise seasons at $3,000, Metropolitan will adjust the stud fee according to the financial circumstances of each breeder.Moore added: "We are hopeful that Regal Sanction will generate interest among the Mid-Atlantic breeding community and that he will become an excellent New York stallion who will generate revenues for equine charities for years to come."Regal Sanction captured the 2002 Pegasus Handicap (gr. II) at Meadowlands and placed in four stakes. He is a half-brother to graded stakes winner Nonies Dancer Ali and his dam, Northern Sanction (by Affirmed), is a half-sister to French group winner Great Substence.
