Purchased by Dennis Narlinger (JMJ Racing Stables), in partnership with Becky Thomas of Sequel Bloodstock and Lewis Lakin, Read the Footnotes will stand for $8,500 live foal. Bred by Lawrence Goichman, Read the Footnotes posted what was believed to be the fastest three-furlong workout ever by a Fasig-Tipton sale 2-year-old, doing so in :33 1/5 at the 2003 Midlantic sale in May. His price of $320,000, paid by trainer Richard Violette Jr. for Seth Klarman of Klaravich Stable, topped the sale.Read the Footnotes won his first start by 9 1/4 lengths as a 2-year-old at Saratoga and went on to win that year's Remsen (gr. II) and Nashua (gr. III) Stakes. In his 3-year-old debut, he outfought Second of June to win the Fountain of Youth Stakes (gr. II) at Gulfstream Park. His 113 Beyer is the co-fourth best this year for a 3-year-old. Read the Footnotes next ran fourth in the Florida Derby (gr. I), then unplaced in the Kentucky Derby (gr.
