High winds and heavy gusts has forced the cancellation of Saturday's live Thoroughbred racing program at Woodbine after four races.

Following the fourth race, the track's jockeys, after conferring with Woodbine management and Ontario Racing Commission Stewards, felt the wind gusts were making conditions unsafe for horse and rider.

Currently, winds are out of the southwest at 25 mph and gusting to over 37 mph, according to Environment Canada. Gusts were expected to reach the 50 mph mark later in the afternoon.

The day's feature race, the $126,375 Sir Barton Stakes, has been rescheduled for Dec. 8.

Woodbine continued to offer full card simulcasting from Calder, Aqueduct, Fairgrounds and Hollywood Park.

Live Thoroughbred racing is expected to resume at Woodbine on Sunday.
