Sunshine Forever, Creator Arrive at Old Friends

Old Friends, an equine retirement organization based in Midway, Ky., announced that Sunshine Forever and Creator arrived Nov. 1 at Hurstland Farm near Midway, which has set aside paddocks for horses retired to Old Friends. Both horses arrived from Japan last month and cleared quarantine.

Sunshine Forever, by Roberto, was bred by and raced for John Galbreath and Darby Dan Farm. He became Champion grass horse in 1988 after a trio of grade I victories in the Budweiser International, Turf Classic, and Man o' War Stakes. He earned more than $2 million.

Creator was a group I winner in France whose only race in the United States was his last one. The son of Mill Reef ran as a homebred for Sheikh Mohammed and earned $550,000.

Old Friends president Michael Blowen said both horses were settling in well. He gave credit to Narvick International head Emmanuel de Seroux for helping facilitate the deals that brought both horses from Japan to Kentucky.
