Our Sugar Bear Stable's three-time stakes winner Travelator is the 116-pound highweight in the 10th running of the $100,000 Floral Park Handicap (gr. III) at Belmont Park. Topping a field of five fillies and mares set to travel the 6 furlongs, the Stanley Hough-trained runner comes back only seven days after stepping up in class in an eight-length loss Sept. 11 in the Endine Handicap (gr. III) at Delaware Park
She had shown top form in her three previous outings, capturing the Aug. 8 Regret Stakes at Monmouth, and Arctic Queen Handicap at Finger Lakes June 20, those wins sandwiching a close second in the Scotzanna Stakes at Belmont July 16.
Bred in New York by Michael and Raylene Anchel, The daughter of A.P. Jet
will look to score from off the pace with Cornelio Velasquez aboard.
Evan Gerwitz' front-running Cologny, who defeated Travelator going wire-to-wire in the Scotzanna, seems the most likely of the five to set the early pace. Bred in New York by Dr. Jerry Billinski, Martin Zaretsky, and Joseph Cornacchia, Cologny boasts two stakes wins in 2004 including one over the surface.
Trainer Scott Lake conditions the daughter of Go For Gin
who ran twice this summer at Saratoga, placing in her last start in the Union Avenue Stakes Aug. 26, and coming in fourth in the Honorable Miss Handicap (gr. II) Aug. 6.
Cologny will carry the second-highweight of 115. Aaron Gryder, the regular rider of Travelator, gets the mount for a trip on the rail and post 1.
Adding some spice to the affair will be Joyce Robsham's Feline Story. By Tale of the Cat, the 3-year-old has come up against some tough competition of late in both the Test (gr. I) Stakes at Saratoga July 31 and Prioress Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont July 3, and should appreciate the easier company.
Bred in Kentucky by Eclipse Thoroughbreds, Feline Story has runs some close races this year, losing three times by a total of less than a half-length. Her lone stakes score in 2004 came in the April 24 Legal Light Stakes at Delaware Park.
Also trained by Hough, Feline Story retains the services of red-hot jockey Edgar Prado and will break from post five carrying 114 pounds.
