Belmont Stakes Most-Watched Sporting Event of the Week

NBC reported 4 million viewers during the race segment of coverage.

While some other sports delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic have begun to return, horse racing finished atop the week's television ratings among sports events as the June 20 Belmont Stakes (G1) broadcast on NBC saw a peak of 4 million viewers during one stage of the program.

The rescheduled Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park coverage averaged 3.4 million viewers, based on Total Audience Delivery numbers. The TAD numbers aim to count views on linear broadcast and cable channels as well as mobile, tablets, and connected TVs. It also measures viewership across broadcast and cable TV, as well as social and digital media with the goal of delivering advertisers a single viewer.

The race fared best in the Louisville, Ky. market with a 5.8 HH Rating and 14 share. The rating is the audience of the program as a percent of the audience population while the share is the audience of the program as a percent of the population viewing television at the time.
