Trainer Greg Foley hopes to wrap up the 2004 Churchill Downs Spring Meet on a high note when he sends out Bakster Farm's unbeaten Sweet Miss El in the $100,000-added Debutante (gr. III) on Sunday. The 2-year-old daughter of Eltish breezed four furlongs in :48.20 on Tuesday under jockey Rafael Bejarano. Foley's filly broke off at the three-eighths pole and worked to the seven-eighths in a move over "fast" footing that ranked 14th out of 46 at the distance. "It was just a little maintenance work," said Foley in a release from Churchill Downs. "She's fit. She's ready to go." Sweet Miss El looms as the probable favorite in the 5 1/2-furlong Debutante following a pair of wins at Churchill Downs, including an emphatic 2 1/2-length victory in a 5 1/2-furlong allowance race on June 18. Another possible Debutante contender, Limitless Lady, breezed four furlongs in :47 over a "fast" track on Wednesday for trainer Steve Asmussen. The move by the Florida-bred daughter of Limit Out was the fastest of 35 at the distance.Other likely Debutante contenders include:Classic Elegance; Jules Best; Limitless Lady; Im A Dixie Girl; Runway Model; and Perfect Connection.
