A pair of juveniles from the barn of trainer Steve Asmussen head a list of 15 2-year-olds nominated tothe $125,000-added Kentucky Breeders' Cup (gr.III) on June 5.
Heiligbrodt Racing Stable's unbeaten Lunarpal, an easy six-length winner of the Three Chimneys Juvenile on the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) undercard, and James Cassels, Connie Scherr, Keith Asmussen and Winchell Thoroughbreds' Primal Storm, a comfortable winner in his lone start at Churchill Downs, head the list of juveniles eligible for the 5 1/2-furlong race.
Asmussen won the race a year ago with Winchell Thoroughbreds' Cuvee, who would go on to win the Saratoga Special (gr.II) and Belmont Futurity (gr. I).
Other nominated horses include Smoke Warning and Maximus C, a pair of impressive recent winners from the barn of Dale Romans; Robert and Beverly Lewis' Classic Elegance, a daughter of Carson City who finished third against males in the Three Chimneys Juvenile; Vinery Stable's Right Hand Man, an easy winner for trainer Edward Plesa, Jr. in his only start at Calder Race Course; and the Phil Serpe-trained Winning Expression an easy winner in his only start at Belmont Park.
