Endeavor Farm Expands to Include Sales Consignment

Endeavor Farm, which specializes in quality Thoroughbred care, boarding, and sales preparation, has expanded to add sales consignment to its offerings. Endeavor Sales, owned by Terry Nickell and Mark Tsagalakis, is now accepting consignment prospects for all Kentucky sales, beginning with the Fasig-Tipton July yearling sale.

"Together, Mark and I bring 40 years of experience in the horse industry, including sales, to this new agency," Nickell said. "And as we expand our footprint in the industry into the sales arena, we're going to bring the same integrity and honesty that has been associated with Endeavor Farm to our sales clients."

A second-generation horseman, Nickell is the son of the late Harry Schmidt, who managed Spendthrift Farm for 24 years. After working summers for his father, Nickell worked as broodmare foreman at Bwamazon Farm, yearling manager and then farm manager at Chuck Schmidt's Sunrise Farm, stallion manager at Nathan Fox's Wafare Farm, and farm manager for Wafare/Richland Hills Farm for 20 years.

Five years ago, Nickell teamed up with longtime California trainer Mark Tsagalakis to purchase Richland Hills, and renamed it Endeavor Farm. The property near Midway, Ky. is a full-service facility encompassing 160 acres with four barns and 70 stalls. The acreage includes five fields of 20 acres or more as well as 14 paddocks. The property also features a 10-stall stallion barn, breeding shed, and six-horse walker.

Nickell and Tsagalakis have hired Laura Haag to coordinate sales efforts. A graduate of the University of Kentucky with a bachelor's degree in animal sciences with an emphasis in equine production, Haag completed internships with Hill 'n' Dale Farm as assistant sales coordinator and Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, working with reproduction specialist Dr. Pete Sheerin. After finishing her studies, Haag spent more than four years at Hill 'n' Dale under farm veterinarian Dr. Jeremy Whitman, gaining invaluable experience with a largescale commercial environment.
